Attendees are invited to enjoy sidewalk chalk art to express patriotic themes and gratitude toward veterans.
Through the festival’s proceeds, funds are being set aside to support a banner project featuring veteran photos. The Horney Creek Fest’s long-range goal is to have these light pole banners throughout Cass County. The Cass County Visitors Bureau and Logansport Savings Bank are the 2025 Stars and Stripes event sponsors.
The event is named after the Horney Creek, which runs along the northside of Logansport. The creek’s namesake is prominent 19th century Logansport resident Judge James Horney. Children growing up on the northside during the 40s, 50s and 60s played as Horney Creek Marines. This was so sentimental to some, they included ‘member of the Horney Creek Marines’ in their obituaries.
Anyone not wanting to drink alcohol can enter the festival grounds for free. Veteran beverage-tasting tickets are $10. For those wanting to sample beer, wine and spirits, discounted tickets may be purchased through Sep. 11 at HorneyCreekFest.org.
