This initiative offers a dynamic support group designed to empower youth by developing essential protective factors, with a primary emphasis on social skills development and the prevention of peer pressure and substance use. The group curriculum encompasses coping strategies, emotional processing, stress management, and dealing with interpersonal conflicts, among other vital topics. By fostering a nurturing environment, participants can connect with experienced adult mentors and engage with peers, sharing experiences and insights. The discussions are adaptable, ensuring they meet the specific needs of each group. With a capacity of up to 15 participants per session, the program aims to enhance youths’ ability to communicate effectively with peers and adults, fostering reconnection and promoting healthy interaction and support-seeking behaviors. Facilitated by a skilled provider from the Bowen Center, the group is dedicated to supporting mental health and encouraging youth to seek and offer support within their community.
Funding provided by Partners for a Drug Free Cass County and the United Way of Cass County. With cooperation from Bowen Health.
