A Walk with HOPE and Grab the Blue Ring for World Diabetes Day to promote Diabetes Awareness
World Diabetes Day Events to Promote Diabetes Awareness 2024
On Saturday, November 9th there will be two free events for World Diabetes Day to promote diabetes awareness. A Walk with HOPE will be held at Riverside Park promptly at 2:45 p.m. walking one lap around the park ending up at the Cass County Carousel for the Annual Grab the Blue Ring from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Diabetes is a global epidemic! However, according to the 2023 Annual Report from the American Diabetes Association, thirty-eight million people in the United States alone have been diagnosed and are being treated for the disease. Ninety-eight million people have prediabetes. Early detection can prevent life-threatening complications.
Please take the warning signs and symptoms of diabetes seriously and see your physician immediately. There are no vacations or breaks from managing diabetes. It is a twenty-four-hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days a year job. This presents many challenges emotionally, mentally, medically, physically, and financially that also take a toll on a diabetic as well as possible care givers.
Please come to show your support for your loved ones, extended family members, friends, neighbors, and others in our community trying to survive this disease. The symbol for World Diabetes is a blue circle. It represents the support needed globally to fight for a cure for diabetes.
Wear something blue and come to enjoy these events. Your support for diabetes awareness will be greatly appreciated.
World Diabetes Day is November 14th in honor of Sir Frederick Banting who along with Charles Best discovered insulin in 1922.
