DESCRIPTION:The Logansport Historic Preservation Commission will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on June 11 at 3:30 PM at the City Building, 3rd floor.\nA public hearing will be conducted regarding the proposed nomination of Mount Hope Cemetery to the National Register of Historic Places. Representatives involved in the nomination process will provide information, and members of the public will have an opportunity to offer comments during the hearing.\nIn addition to the public hearing, the Commission will discuss ongoing preservation initiatives, potential future landmark designations, public education and outreach efforts, website and community engagement projects, and upcoming historic preservation activities planned for the fall and winter seasons.\nMembers of the public are encouraged to attend. The complete meeting agenda will be available at the meeting.\nThe Logansport Historic Preservation Commission is dedicated to safeguarding the architectural integrity and historic character of our community. Through thoughtful review and approval of development, redevelopment, rehabilitation, and preservation projects, we ensure that designated local landmarks and historic districts maintain their visual quality and cultural significance. Our mission is to balance progress with preservation, honoring Logansport’s rich heritage while fostering responsible stewardship of the historic structures and districts that define our city’s unique identity for current and future generations.\nNOTICE OF PROPOSED NOMINATION TO THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES Notice is hereby given that the CITY OF LOGANSPORT and the LOGANSPORT HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Historic Preservation and Archeology (DHPA), is preparing a nomination to the National Register of Historic Places for the following proposed historic district: District Name: MOUNT HOPE CEMETERY General Boundaries: Roughly between Pleasant Hill Drive on the south, Clifton Avenue on the east, Grant and McCarty Streets on the west, and St. Joseph Lane separating the modern addition from the old cemetery on the north. City, State: LOGANSPORT, INDIANA The National Register of Historic Places is the official federal list of districts, sites, buildings, structures, and objects significant in American history, architecture, archaeology, engineering, and culture.
